In particular, such courses provide the student with a first knowledge on vectors and coordinates, as well as a superficial acquaintance with conic sections and quadrics. Later on, those who develop an interest in Geometry may take second courses in this field and, mainly, such second courses will discuss axiomatic and non-Euclidean geometry. (Though false, sometimes the word geometry is not even mentioned in these courses, I refer to the analytical geometry part of the first year curriculum as a first course in geometry).
