Volume I: Active Air Force bases within the United States of America on 17 September 1982.
As of 1982, there were eighty-nine active Air Force bases in the United States. This volume provides historical information and statistics for each of these installations, including dates of activation, occupancy, closure, and transferal. Also listed are the units stationed at each installation, units of the chief support organizations, and the names of commanders.
Volume 2: Air bases outside the United States of America.
This reference work contains an alphabetical listing of all active U.S. Air Force bases outside American territory, through the end of 1982. Under each installation are several entries, which include a description of the facilities, the names of the commanders, the identities of base operating and tenant units,the dates of American occupancy, and other distinguishing information.
