The Luftwaffe s campaign in Scandinavia and the Far North the Eismeerfront from 1940 to 1945 can still be regarded as largely uncharted territory in terms of historical research. Air operations over the Far North were demanding and intensive, with the two main German fighter units, JG 5 and JG 77, engaged against both the RAF and the Russians. Lesser-known units also took part, and this book examines all these units aircraft, many of which were engaged in attacking British and Soviet-held aircraft, airfields, bridges, communications lines and transport, as well as enemy maritime targets throughout the area. A quick overview of the development of the Cromwell cruiser tank with a selection of photos. This is followed by an edited reprint of the vehicle manual for the Cromwell Mk.I, which has all sorts of handy close-up pictures and internal details. The lineage of the Marlin can be traced back to the PBM-4 Mariner design proposal of 1941. The PBM-1/2, ordered in 1937, was fitted with Wright Aeronautical Company (WAC) 1,600 HP R-2600-6 engines. Follow-on PBM-3, -3C, -3R and -3S models were equipped with WAC 1,700 HP R-2600-12 engines. The final version of the series, the PBM -3D, had WAC 1,900 HP R-2600-22 engines. Even with the 1,900 HP engines, the PBM-3 series Mariner was seriously under-pow¬ered, with poor take-off, climb and single-engine performance.
